this time more intelligently."
Enrollment Process
At Jordan Lake Sudbury School, we have rolling enrollment. This means that a student can enroll at any time during the school year. If the student enrolls after the start of the school year, the tuition is prorated through the remainder of the school year. If a four year old child turns five during the school year, they may enroll at the school as soon as they turn five.
Here are the steps necessary for a typical enrollment process:
Step 1: Informational Meeting
The first step to enrolling at Jordan Lake Sudbury School is to schedule an Informational Meeting. At the meeting, a staff member will give a brief overview of the Sudbury philosophy and conduct a tour of the school. This is also an opportunity to get specific questions answered about the school.
Step 2: Interview
In order to enroll, each family must take part in an enrollment interview. This is not a selection process, but a frank discussion during which all parties can make sure that the school is a good fit for the student and his family. Members of JLSS staff, parents and current students may be present at the interview to provide an opportunity for the enrolling family to ask any additional questions they may have. Both of the student's parents or guardians are required to attend the enrollment interview.
To arrange an interview, the student should fill out an Interview Request Form to submit to the school along with a $60 interview fee. This fee includes a copy of the book Free at Last.
Step 3: Visiting Week
During the interview, the student will receive a Visiting Week registration packet. This should be completed and returned to the school to arrange a Visiting Week. The Visiting Week allows the student an opportunity to attend the school for a week and experience what it is like to be a Sudbury student. The fee for the visiting week is $150 and there is no obligation to enroll. If necessary, a second visiting week can be scheduled for an additional $150.
Step 4: Enrollment
Once the interview and the visiting week have taken place, and all parties agree that enrollment is a good idea, the student can enroll at the school by completing the Enrollment Forms. At the time of enrollment, the first two months of the student's tuition are due.
